As always, I was hoping for a different plot but not this time. I have enjoyed the author's books in the past. They seem to be formula mysteries. I was really bummed when I found out that the author did not visit the spots she wrote about. Simple plots and an easy read. I have visited some of these places and have to admit her books made me interested in going there.
I love the Mrs. Pollifax books and now have the whole set. The leading character is my age, and so inspirational, even though if I try I can remember that she is fictional. I have read all of the books more than once, and will keep my set and read them all again. I now must begin the search for the rest of the Gilman books.
Have previously read all the Mrs. Pollifax mysteries so this was a re-read. It stands the test of time and was very enjoyable. Ms. Gilmore passed away some time ago so it is sad that we will not have any more of these mysteries. It is fun to have a woman of a certain age becoming a spy for the CIA.
Mrs. Pollifax is at it again. This time, helping Farrell, she travels to Jordan to get a manuscript. Of course, her trip couldn't be that uneventful. She soon finds herself involved in not one, but two cases of international intrige. Can she find her way out of both of them?
This book really felt like coming back to an old friend. The relationship between Farrell and Mrs. P. is wonderful as always. I really do wish that we would see more of Cyrus, however. The new characters are interesting and entertaining. The plot was entertaining and kept me confused about several things until the very end. It was good escapist fun, exactly what it tries to be. If you aren't familiar with the antics of the CIA's secret weapon, buy a copy now. You won't regret it.
I bought the whole set of Mrs Polifax books for my parents for their upcoming birthdays. They love Dorothy Gilman and the Mrs Polifax Series. The book was in wonderful condition.
